Spanish term

excipiente

Spanish to English Other Livestock / Animal Husbandry animal feed
Two examples of the use of this term in this text on a firm that manufactures base mixes (animal fodder). I can't find any use of the English term "excipients" outside of pharmaceuticals; any ideas for what "excipientes" could be here?...

carrier

"filler" is generally "relleno", e.g.:

http://www.google.es/search?hl=es&q="relleno (filler)"&meta=

as the material is being handled in bulk it could be carriers such as clays, e.g. Bentonite. For example (the reference to "carrier" occurs in the paragraph above the one quoted):

Bentonite Animal Feed
AGRI-FLEX™ technology aids in pellet binding for animal feed. A natural sodium bentonite clay, it is used in animal feed formulations at a 1.5 to 4.0 percent inclusion rate.
As bentonite, The AGRI-FLEX technology is accepted by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS) as a direct food ingredient. AGRI-FLEX is certified as kosher by The Scroll K.

Excipient is perfectly good English for this. It is the vehicle containing the dose. Good for human and veterinary medicine, livestock feed additives, etc.

Sorry, my finger slipped. The last part should be "excipient", not excipientcle...
