A little too poetic for me this one - I am not 100% whether he is looking at himself (which is how I read it) or the sea (which, given that he is an artist, would make more sense)...
"Inmerso en el azul del mar, [underwater artist] se centra en la experiencia de la inmensidad, mirándose a sí mismo, tratando de darle sentido a su ser."
What I have so far is:
"Submerged in the blue of the sea, [he] focuses on the experience of its immensity, looking at himself, trying to make sense of his being."
Maybe I have it right - maybe not... vamos a ver!

Hi Comunican. If I were writing about an artist, photographer etc., I would definitely use something a little more more arty, possibly more pretentious such as this, or maybe one of Andre's suggestions. I think that 'looking at himself'is almost clumsy in this context, although it's the nicest, simplest way to put it in real life.
