Jose´s method involved trial and error. We provide some detail about his thinking process to demonstrate how such a method could lead to incorrect conclusions without carefully taking into account all assumptions and if it is justified on the basis of a mere appearance match (Gentner 1989) We show his solutions in figure 3 to illustrate the actual steps he used to obtain a numerical generalization.
