English term

currency

English to French Marketing Advertising / Public Relations
Dans ce contexte, je ne trouve pas comment traduire "currency" - est-ce "crédibilité"?

The personal interview includes questions about respondents’ website visiting patterns. Clearly, the questioning is not web-based. It’s not a measure of “clicks-and-hits. And it doesn’t lay claim to being a ***currency*** for web usage. It is, however, a valid measure of respondent recall of website visiting behaviour, wherever that may be - at home, at work or in any other location.

disagree Tony M : No, it's not really anything to do with 'being currrent' (= up-to-date) here

devise

I think what they basically mean is money ''figuratively'' for the number of hits received on the website. Honestly, that is what I would use ''Devise'' in quotation marks to underline that the term is used to some extent as a figure of speech.
Hope this helps.

étalon de mesure

A currency can be viewed as anything which is admitted by a common group as an equivalent for some quantity, or as a tool enabling anyone to have access to some reality or to measure it. Here, the interviews described are claimed as useful but should NOT be understood as a commonly admitted way to properly measure web usage in itself. I hope this is clear...
In French sociology, the notion of an "étalon de mesure" is frequently used with this meaning. See web references below.
Example sentence:

'Screen Language': The New Currency for Learning (web reference below)

ref. below : la stabilité du système politique est un étalon de mesure de la réussite d'une transition politique
