I know it's a slightly different context, but it seems to be used in the same way; I know it sounds lame, but apparently gets a lot of g hits. maybe it works in your context, too

neutral Stephen Gobin : Interesting link, Ingeborg and like you say it does sound lame. I suspect that "fireworks of innovation" was a direct 1:1 translation of the German.

agree Paul Cohen : Flurry is very common. Can't go too wrong there. Blaze is perhaps closer to the firey energy of "Feuerwerk". A roaring blaze of innovation?
