It might be helpful to have more context. But in a mechanical context, "housing" would describe a box or casing designed to receive a nail or pin. But if it is describing the given physical structure and not a device engineered to fit into the body, it might better be rendered "chamber". See Grand Dictionnaire Terminologique.
