hago pile

Spanish to English Medical Medical (general) Casualty report
Hello all,

This crops up in a casualty report for a patient with haematuria, in the "treatment and recommendations" section. I have come to the conclusion that it is a typo, but would like some confirmation from others or, if I'm wrong, ideas about what this means.

The section includes details of the medication that the patient should take (aminocaproic acid) and then states:

Urología: hago pile

Any ideas?

Buscando... Sigo buscando.
Rebecca Hendry (asker) Apr 16, 2009:
Spain The text is from Spain. It's a casualty report, so all entries are by the doctor.
Andrea Jablon Apr 16, 2009:
Important! What country is the text from? And "hago pile" is a doctor's indication or a patient's answer?
Cecilia Gowar Apr 16, 2009:
Strange... Even if it is a typo I cannot fathom what the right word/s could be... the only thing I can think of is a suggestion to research "piles" as a possible source of the blood... but it's not urology and it's not Spanish, although some Sp speaking countries might use the term...
Rebecca Hendry (asker) Apr 16, 2009:
Further context The only text that comes after this provides details of an appointment at the outpatient clinic.
celiacp Apr 16, 2009:
more context, please qué aparece a continuación? tiene patología asociada el paciente?

Spanish term (edited): hago pileta

I go swimming

Hi Rebecca, I have come across 'pile' in reference to 'pileta', which is another word for (simming) pool, and hacer pileta would seem to indicate 'to go swimming' or maybe 'bathing'. This may be completely illogical given the context of your text, but I thought that swimmimg could be viewed as a treatment for a given ailment. Sorry if this is not very useful.
Note from asker:
Thanks Dawn, but why would the verb be in the first person? These are recommendations provided by the doctor.

haemophilia

Just guessing, but this drug appears in many Google hits in conjunction with haemophilia...

Aminocaproic acid is used to treat excessive postoperative bleeding. It can be given orally or intravenously. One scenario where it may be useful is to treat bleeding after dental extractions in patients with hemophilia, because the oral mucosa is rich in plasminogen activators. A meta-analysis found that lysine analogs like aminocaproic acid significantly reduced blood loss in patients undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting.
Note from asker:
Thanks John, but this section is not dealing with the diagnosis but the treatment, so I don't think this could work.

This is all I have found "hielo pilé"
