Spanish term

tela de ocasión

Spanish to English Other Textiles / Clothing / Fashion
La frase no tiene demasiado contexto. Lo único que dice es: "como una tela de ocasión la pista de baile empezó a encogerse" haciendo referencia a la gran cantidad de gente que llegaba al lugar.

Yes thank you, in Spanish we can also say "articulos rebajados"o "de liquidacion"
agree James A. Walsh : I initially misunderstood this one too, and went for Elizabeth's answer - but you're spot on with this. Saludos :)

fine fabric

My best guess would be a fine fabric, such as a fabric you might use to make clothes for a special occasion. The reference to fabric does seem to fit with the image of lots of people on the dance floor ("fabric" of people).
