: 私も最初にcircaを思いついたのですが、circaは年代や日付の前に使うもののような気がします。それとcircaを略する場合、c.a.ではなく、caと表記します。

: 約で正しいと思います。年代に圧倒的に使用されますが、それにのみ限らるわけではないでしょう。ラテン語ですから、このような学術文献ではよく使われ、また文脈から見ても、コンマのあるなしで決定的な違いがあるとは思えません。

Yes, I laughed about that. I submited my comment before yours appeared on proz. It looked almost as if we translated each other!
That was my first thought, but I think circa is only used for times and dates, not quantities. This is actually an English paper written by a Japanese author. If he means "circa," then he is wrong in two ways 1. Circa is used for dates, not quanitites, 2. There should not be a period after "c" or "a."
