French term

en voie de disparition

French to English Other General / Conversation / Greetings / Letters idiom
"endangered" is the perfect translation when dealing with animals. Regarding other contexts such as "une profession en voie de disparition", would "endangered " be ok, or do we need another translation like "dying" ?

Thank you

on the verge of disappearing

Isn't it a simple literal translation? It sounds perfect to me, but I'm French, English is not my native language.

a declining profession

We often talk about "declining industries" in the UK. A declining profession or profession in decline also works well.

disappearing profession

This is just another suggestion, since I think simplest is often the best.

An example:
"Currently, the most common method of communication to the public about science is through the mainstream media, but traditional science journalism is a disappearing profession."
