Discussion

Robin Salmon (X) (asker) May 19, 2010:
Yes, opolt, I think you've got it. I'll try to think of something neat to put.
opolt May 18, 2010:
Schalterenden? Betriebsanschlüsse? Aren't those simply the two (hot) terminations of the switch, which are to be bridged/short-circuited for testing purposes? This is what I gather from the context provided. -- Rare, but not impossible.

Proposed translations

Selected

termination/contact of switch; switching contact

In this case: Ende = terminal, termination (of the current-carrying components). As derived from the context provided by asker, and from the unlikelihood of "Betriebsende", in the sense of "shutdown" etc., being used in its plural form. -- Rare. Possibly in analogy to "Schalterende" (cf. link), which seems to be used sometimes in electronics and is also rare. Though googling the latter reveals quite a few instances of the term being used in G, in a colloquial context.

end of operation/traverse

It could also besomething as simple as a limit switch - hard to tell without further context

the button appears to be used as an override for emergency shutdown tests
