comisión central de ritmo

Spanish to English Bus/Financial Manufacturing convenio colectivo
Here we're talking about claims that can be made regarding performance objectives, including the timing of specific tasks in a manufacturing context. All of which makes me lean toeards something along the lines of 'timing commission'. Anyone know anything about this?

I tihink you have it. There are times when one must coin a phrase. The Spanish has done so.
Graham Allen-Rawlings (asker) Nov 12, 2010:
:-) Thank you so much. The art of creative translation.

Agree with Gerard Very odd use of "ritmo", although it sometimes means "rate/speed". My only input in this has to be "rather you than me".
Gerard Burns Jr. Nov 12, 2010:
Just to point out two things:
1) The use of "ritmos" for a commitee of this kind is very odd register for this kind of thing. To translate it as perfectly normal business terminology loses that.
2) You have to save something for "rendimiento", which is used even in the local context of your "comisión de ritmos", and unfortunately, "productivity" is really "rendimiento" (both imply a comparison with the input) rather than the pace at which people work, which would seem to be addressed very specifically by "ritmos". Edward's suggestion of "performance" could work if you don't need it for another term in this project.

I frankly still can't get over how odd the use of 'ritmos' is here. Is there any chance at all that it is derived from some special circumstance of this plant? If so, you may find another answer suggests itself.

central productivity committee

As I understand it, people are being required to achieve specific levels of output within specific periods - ie their productivity is being measured.

workpace committee

I have only heard of something like this in a dystopian novel once, but it seems to leap at me from your context. The job isn't getting done, and the labour-management committee is too...something...to get to this problem specifically, so they are going to make yet another committee, to specifically look at how fast they should be working when they are not all at committee meetings.

Is it okay if I use this in a novel?
Note from asker:
LOL. Sounds more like something from Monty Python. It's a great expression. It sems to invite some kind of regression ... the workpace pace committe, to look at how fast the workpace committee should acheive its results, etc
or even achieve its results, now we need a committe to check the spelling of the previous committees.
