French term

Rouge de pyralène

French to English Tech/Engineering Manufacturing revêtement antiadhésif
Good evening,

I have found pyralène=pyralene but nothing about “red”, (I found pyralène= askarel” in the GDT but decided to stick with pyralene)

Any suggestions?
Thank you

Louisa Tchaicha (asker) Dec 1, 2010:
@Johannes Gleim Indeed it is, thanks!
Johannes Gleim Dec 1, 2010:
This context is similar to my references 2 and 3:
Particular examples of pigments utilisable in the coating according to the invention are titanium dioxide, mixed oxides of copper-chrome-manganese, iron oxides, carbon black, pyralene red, aluminosilicates, metallic flakes and especially aluminium flakes.
Louisa Tchaicha (asker) Dec 1, 2010:
@Miranda Joubioux Hi, sorry I usually provide more (some) context: here it is

"on peut notamment citer le dioxyde de titane, les oxydes mixtes de cuivre-chrome-manganèse, les oxydes de fer, le noir de carbone, le rouge de pyralène, les aluminosilicates, les paillettes métalliques et notamment les paillettes d'aluminium."
Miranda Joubioux (X) Nov 30, 2010:
context? Could we have the context please?

Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs; CAS number 1336-36-3 ) are a class of organic compounds with 1 to 10 chlorine atoms attached to biphenyl, which is a molecule composed of two benzene rings. The chemical formula for PCBs is C12H10-xClx. PCBs were widely used for many applications, especially as dielectric fluids in transformers, capacitors, and coolants. Due to PCB's toxicity and classification as a persistent organic pollutant, PCB production was banned by the United States Congress in 1979 and by the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants in 2001. Concerns about the toxicity of PCBs are largely based on compounds within this group which share a structural similarity and toxic mode of action with dioxin. Toxic effects such as endocrine disruption and neurotoxicity are also associated with other compounds within the group.

16. The coating as claimed in claim 3, wherein the pigment is selected from the group consisting of titanium dioxide, mixed oxides of copper-chrome-manganese, aluminosilicates, iron oxides, carbon black, pyralene red, metallic flakes and thermochromic pigments.

No relation to perylene, what is a quit different substance (without clorine)

Perylene or perilene is a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon with the chemical formula C20H12, occurring as a brown solid. It or its derivatives may be carcinogenic, and it is considered to be a hazardous pollutant. In cell membrane cytochemistry, perylene is used as a fluorescent lipid probe

perylene red

I have no idea whether this is the right answer because you haven't given the context, but this is what Google suggests when you enter "pyralene red".

PCB (Polychlorinated biphenyls) under trade names as Clophen, Pyralene, Askarel have been used as component of dielectric oils in transformers and capacitors. They are highly toxic (kidney damage) and extremely stable chemicals. They are now banned for new apparatus in many countries, including Switzerland. Any dielectric oil ordered for use at CERN must be specified to contain no PCB.
