position clockwise from top

As the system checks the circumferential welds, it denotes the position of defects by their position measured 'clockwise from top'. E.g. a defect on the right-hand side would be at 'three o'clock', a defect at the bottom 'at six o'clock'. That said, the position is more likely indicated in degrees, not 'hours'.

Vertical

If it is the opposite of abscisado, my guess would be vertical, straight up and down, like the hands of a clock striking the hour.

It is just a guess though.
