Catalan term

B. FABRICI

Catalan to English Science Livestock / Animal Husbandry virus
I'm dealing with a Spanish/Catalan bilingual report on viruses in vet. med. The study has a table entitled "Mostres Rebudes" (samples received, I figured that out) that shows four columns. The first one has no heading, the second says "POT/S AMB/BOTE/S CON" (I understand that as well), and the third says "B. FABRICI/B. FABRICIO". Since the Spanish part makes no sense to me, I'd like to know what sense the Catalan part has. The fourth column is subdivided into two and simply says "D" above and "Q" below (I haven't figured that out either). Thanks for any help.

Glad to be of help!
Parrot (asker) Feb 18, 2011:
Thanks a bunch, Ross! A second file just confirmed it (bolsa). I tried to grade but have to wait the 24-hour period.
Parrot (asker) Feb 17, 2011:
The column's empty But it seems to be from a chicken farm (at any rate, avícola).
Ross Andrew Parker Feb 17, 2011:
Name? Could it be someone's name? What's in that column?

bursa of Fabricius

In birds, the bursa of Fabricius (Latin: Bursa cloacalis or Bursa fabricii) is the site of hematopoiesis, a specialized organ that, as first demonstrated by Bruce Glick and later by Max Cooper and Robert Good, is necessary for B cell (part of the immune system) development in birds. Mammals generally do not have an equivalent organ; the bone marrow is often both the site of hematopoiesis and B cell development.
