present-day indigenous peoples

present-day works better than current in this context. Basically all five previous answers have something to recommend. It's really down to your preference for phrasing and how the phrase fits in the context of your larger text.

some of today's peoples / races / societies

Current isn't going to work here. It sounds to transient and we hope that will not be the case.

Yuk, I thought I'd caught the typo. TOO transient.
Peer comment(s):

agree Jennifer Levey : Exactly that: "some of today's peoples". It's idiomatic and slots precisely into the context and register.

Thank you very much.
agree Richard Boulter : I don't mind 'current' so much, but 'today's' is fine also. Especially important, here, is the openness of saying 'peoples' (plural), allowing these indigenous societies the separate status that the source recognizes with 'pueblos' even in our global view

indigenous people who still form cohesive groups today

I would shy away from a literal translation of "pueblos actuales" and restructure the sentence, putting the "today" elsewhere in the sentence. (As you haven't provided I can't suggest an alternative sentence word for word.) Examples of "people" and "group":

It is the expression most widely used in Anthropology, International Aid and Human development. You can find it as such in documents from the World Bank and Unesco, to Anthropology essays.

[although some] groups today OR: [although some] remaining indigenous groups

The first option is based on the text provided. Your explanation suggests that more might need to be added, which corresponds to the second option. The need for the extra info depends on how much is understood from the rest of the context.

I would take the passive out of the rest of the sentence and say:

Although some [remaining] groups today, such as the Ba-Mbuti, [continue to/still] fragmentan los huesos de elefante con el objetivo de obtener tuétano, ésta no es una práctica habitual
