English to Spanish Art/Literary General / Conversation / Greetings / Letters
Estoy traduciendo los subtitulos de una serie y una madre describe a su hijo como un "four-four" student. Supongo que es un estudiantes con dificultades y calificaciones bajas, pero no pude confirmarlo.

Muchas gracias. four-four se refiere a la cantidad de años. Se trataba de un joven que comenzaba el quinto año. No se refería al promedio de calificaciones. Muchas gracias.

Depende del país donde habla la señora En US, probablemente esté diciendo que saca muy buenas notas: 4 puntos sobre 4.
En otros lugares, y dependiendo del contexto también en US, podría estar diciendo lo que sugieren Miguel y patinba.

FVS That's the ref that motivated me to ask what the country was. It actually means the same as my guess (see above), as Wikipedia says the Kenyan education system is also split up into 8 (primary) 4 (secondary) and 4 (university) years.

Nunca he escuchado esto y he trabajado en la educacio'n toda mi vida. Podr'ia ser que ha oido mal o hay alguna errata? Podria ser 4.0 (Four Point O) student? Eso tendria sentido y significa que es un estudiante excelente con la media de notas perfecta. Siempre saca 10, por ejemplo.
