Dutch term

utilitaire projecten

Dutch to English Tech/Engineering Construction / Civil Engineering seguro médico

at the risk of overkill but you might want to have a look here: http://www.census.gov/const/C30/geodef.pdf
-> non-residential includes lodging, office, commercial, health care, educational, religious, amusement ...
sindy cremer Aug 26, 2011:
According to the OECD http://stats.oecd.org/glossary/detail.asp?ID=1833
non-residential buildings comprise:
- industrial buildings;
- commercial buildings;
- educational buildings;
- health buildings;
- other buildings.
school and hospitals are in the commercial section also
Manuel Maduro (asker) Aug 26, 2011:
Well, the good news is that this happens to be a commercial office building...
sindy cremer Aug 26, 2011:
Yes, but 'commercial' does not include schools, hospitals, etc.
You are so right Phil
philgoddard Aug 26, 2011:
Tina Commercial does NOT mean sales-related - it means the opposite of residential, in other words any type of business, including shops and offices. You're getting mixed up with "retail", which means shops. Please take this from me as a native English speaker.

professional or commercial projects

als je het ziet als tegenstelling met residential project, dan kan je commercial of professional gebruiken.

Bedankt, er was wel een verhitte discussie over.
Note from asker:
Excellent! Thanks!

agree Tina Vonhof (X) : I would prefer "office or commercial building projects" (projects by itself could mean all kinds of things). // I disagree with Phil: commercial means sales-related (wholesale or retail), office buildings can be government, professional, etc.

dank je, ja het leek niet nodig, maar kan natuurlijk goed.
agree philgoddard : Though "professional projects" is incorrect, and Tina's "office or commercial" is a tautology. //No, there's no such thing as a professional building - professional is the opposite of amateur, in other words you get paid for it.

dank je, projects for professional buildings, I suppose

Commercial buildings are part of 'utilitaire' gebouwen, hence of 'non-residential' buildings. If you are looking to translate 'utilitair', the correct word seems to be 'non-residential'.

Thank you, Kitty
agree Barend van Zadelhoff : precies zoals je zegt, als je wilt vertalen wat er staat ... en als je de gestelde vraag wilt beantwoorden ... 'non-residential' kan in de glossary als vertaling 'commercial' niet
