Hello,
This is about an al-Qaeda trial in Saudi;
جدد المتهم الأول في خلية «الدندني» التي تضم 85 عنصراً إرهابياً ولاءه لتنظيم «القاعدة» ولزعيمها الحالي المصري أيمن الظواهري، وقال للقاضي: «أنا مشتاق للسيف، وأتمنى تنفيذ الحد ».
It seems to mean "death penalty", but I'm not sure. If so, does it specifically mean "death by sword"?

I Strongly believe that you should express the term "الحد" as limit so you would transfer the specific linguistic characteristic of the source text, without it, the context will lose it's impression.
also we should add between parentheses more clarification about the nature of the limit so it wouldn't be ambiguous
So i would render it as
"I yearn for the sword and i wish to be subject to it's Islamic limit(Capital punishment/execution/....)"

: Sorry dear brother, if he says, "I wish to be subject to it's Islamic limit(Capital punishment", then he impicitly confesses that he has committed he should be punished for. Surely, this is not the case.
