hello!
what do you think **gallerie giovani** means here? Recently established galleries? 'Young galleries' sounds peculiar, but perhaps that is exactly what is meant...
Artissima è la fiera d’arte contemporanea più importante d’Italia nel settore delle **gallerie giovani** e degli artisti emergenti, divenendo un fondamentale appuntamento culturale per addetti ai lavori, collezionisti e appassionati d’arte.
thanks to all

A simple google search of Artissima produces results, the majority of which refer to it as a "contemporary art gallery", "a fair of contemporary art", " a window on emerging art.... for lovers of contemporary art..."

Michael Korovkin
: "contemporary art" has started with Cezanne. Has nothing to do with newly opened galleries that may specialize in either contemporary, or modern or even classical art. Incidentally, some of the contemporary art galleries are more than a century old.

See the article on the mainstream gallery system in NY.
They are galleries that have been in operation for 5 years or less. They are easier to approach and become affiliated with, but may not be well-connected in the art world as a whole. They may not have many important clients or collectors or may not be getting reviews in the major art magazines.
