Consulting contract - Help with second part of the sentence required please
It's the second part of the sentence that is giving me problems, as marked above with ***. I understand the first part: "if the consultant works on a calendar day on several agreements, and if the consultant's activity exceeds 8 hours within this calendar day", but I just don't understand the second part at all.
Please can you help?!

im Verhältnis zu 8 Stunden Tagesleistung
They're not supposed to exceed (a Tagesleistung of) 8 hours per day.
If the total number of hours worked on a day exceeds 8, then the individual hours worked on each Vereinbarung are reduced proportionally such that their sum equals 8.
what they're essentially saying, IMO.
looks like no overtime is paid/billed... But some (preceding) context might help clarify that.

: This is what it boils down to at the end of the day, when all's said and done. (Glad you didn't mention 'output', which sounds more like a machine.)

Well, you could I suppose use output for a person's productivity (e.g. a translator's output of x words per day), but I agree it would sound strange here where it's about the number of hours worked. Maybe Germans don't see the difference?

That depends on where you see the question! :-)

Comment: "Thanks for explaining the confusing sentence to me, which is exactly what I asked for, rather than the precise translation of Tagesleistung. "

daily output
..."each agreement will be adjusted down to an 8-hour daily output in proportion to the total number of hours worked on that calendar day."
Not that I would "choose" to express it like that, but that's how I would do the second part..

daily workload
IMHO:
it says: the consultant can only bill 8 hours per day. If he exceeds the 8 hours he should transfer these hours in proportion of the time spent to that particular project to another day. It doesn't mean his salary is cut down by half.
Example: day 1: 6 hours at Project X (traveltime included)
4 hours at Project Y
(2 hours overtime)
Billing for day 2: 6/10 of 2 hours to Project X
4/10 of 2 hours to Project Y
Output is not relevant here, as the consultant may have worked for 1000 hours on a project with no succes, yet he DID make those hours!

All this to avoid extra tax on overtime

Cilian O'Tuama
: where does it say "transferred to another day"?
4 hrs
|
it doesn't, merely used in the example. He has to bill in such a way that only 8 hrs/day are credited for. How/when is not described.

: Agree that "workload" would be a more accurate rendering than "output". Even a German can see that... :-)
