ligne série
Deux appareils peuvent être connectés l'un à l'autre (mode Box-2-Box). De ce fait les signaux numériques et la ligne série RS-232/485 sont transportés de manière transparente sur le réseau.

liaison série
This is the term very frequently used by a number of my FR > EN customers.
HOWEVER, do note that we don't have enough context to be entirely sure; in point of fact, this term might be suitable if we are talking about the notion of a 'serial line'; but if it were talking about the actual physical 'line' (more usually a 'cable'), then it may be that another term would be more appropriate. Then again, this could be talking about a signal line carrying a logic level — again, another term is probably called for.

'line' is a word that is used (and mis-used!) with several different sense in EN, many of which require quite different terms in FR. Hence why it is so important for us to have more context in order to be sure which meaning actually applies here.

Alain Boulé
: Wouldn't that be serial data link?

Merci, Alain ! Yes, often too — but in practice is frequently used for 'line' too, where the context is right.

: C'est mieux dans ce contexte, car on configure la liaison et non la ligne...

: serial link, d'accord Avec Alain

'line' can mean both in EN, and here from the context it's clear this is more appropriate; there is a skew in the meanings of these various terms between FR and EN.
