German term
der Einsatz unter chemischen Einflüssen
German to English
Tech/Engineering
Engineering: Industrial
Context:
"Der Einsatz außerhalb des Temperaturbereiches von -20° C bis +80° C sowie der Einsatz unter chemischen Einflüssen ist untersagt."
Talking about lifting gear. I'm not sure if it actually means that "Usage is prohibited if the temperature is below -20°C or above +80°C or if the equipment has been exposed to chemicals", or "Usage is prohibited if the temperature is below -20°C or above +80°C and the use of chemicals is forbidden", or what?
* Sentence or paragraph where the term occurs: See above
* Document type: Technical pecifications
* Target audience: Engineers
* Country and dialect (source): German
* Country and dialect (target): American English

us(ag)e in the presence of chemicals / when exposed to chemicals
Whilst I do see Vikki's point, I believe this more likely refers to the lifting gear itself, the material and its properties/specifications etc. (because of the temperature range mentioned in the same sentence). I'd even consider using "under chemical attack" but am not sure if this is taking things a bit too far.

The application under chemical influences
Here, there is a outdoor temperature - based chemical effect warning to be considered during usage of substance in question.

: This isn't about a substance, it's about lifting gear. But it makes no sense in either case.
