Se utiliza sobre todo para los anfibios. Se trata de un método que consiste en peinar/barrer la zona estudiada (habitualmente un estanque, pero no siempre) con una red y realizar un inventorio de lo que se encuentra: especies, nidos, cúmulos de huevos, etc. Las muestras se pueden recoger definitivamente para estudiarlas en el laboratorio u otro objetivo, o pueden ser liberadas de nuevo una vez inventoriadas, que probablemente es lo que se hizo en el estudio del que habla tu texto.
