Sé que ya hubo una pregunta sobre esta expresión pero busco un equivalente cultural, no una traducción literal. Es decir, ¿existe en las fiestas de países angloparlantes alguna tradición similar? ¿hay un momento de las fiestas en que se reparte "cotillón" y se pasa música brasileña o caribeña o similar?

In London you have the Notting Hill carnival, see here:

Although it's also a carnival, it's not held at the same time as in Rio and it's more influenced by Caribbean traditions than Brazilian ones.
In the US you have Mardi Gras:

But Brazilian-style carnival will also be celebrated anywhere there's a Brazilian community. Carnival also varies within Brazil itself, for example the carnival in Salvador in the state of Bahia lasts 7 days as opposed to 5 and doesn't include the samba school parades, it's all in the street.
