Chesters in Brasil now are very much larger than normal roasting chickens

I agree with Marlene, theyvare referred to as 'chester' which is what's important. I was in a bakery last year with a German friend over for carnival. There was a kind of buffet of salgados and then you weighed your plate. She is a vegetarian and had picked up a salgados with chester in it, thinking it was cheese. When she complained to the staff that it had been mislabelled, they all looked at us quite incredulously, 'Mas, e Chester!'

I am Brazilian, born and bred. I remember having Chester, that is how we call it in Brazil, for Christmas dinner, it was a big treat, a substitute for turkey (as big) and, as a matter of fact, it tastes much better than turkey.

It's a trade name Chester was the "brand" name (not necessarily registered, maybe later it was) adopted by Perdigao (or whatever firm it was, not Sadia probably) MERELY to emphasize that its ready-to-cook chickens had very large breasts. They were not overgrown. They were just a tad bigger than usual. I'm thinking back to the late 70s (lived in SP 1979-83) when ready-to-cook chickens packaged and labeled for sale in supermarkets were relatively new in Brazil. They were not in any way overgrown, special "raza" or odd.

not quite sure if it's been developed through selective breeding or genetic modification (I think the former), but apparently the name derives from the fact that it has a large breast...

Chester is a smoked turkey roll, but I have not seen it outside of Brazil.

If you are going to use the word pepper, you should pluralise it, otherwise it will be inferred that it is pimenta do reino

No Brasil, o Chester é conhecidíssimo, por ser um tipo muito especial de frango, totalmente diferente do frango comum, mas não é conhecido em outros países (não existe nos EUA ou na Europa), daí a necessidade de uma pequena explicação.

Yes, heavy-breasted is a good idea. However, Chester is very specific to Brazil, even served as a substitute for turkey on Christmas Day. I have never seen it in Europe or the USA.
