English term

rotator cuff ear

English to Spanish Medical Medical (general) ENT
Translating a health survey for a business that offers comprehensive health screening. One of the questions reads:

"Have you ever been diagnosed with a rotator cuff ear?"

As far as I know, the rotator cuff is located in the upper arm, near the shoulder. But is there a similar structure in the ear? What is it in Spanish? 'Manguito rotador de la oreja'? TIA.

desgarre del manguito rotatorio

I'd say it's a typo and what was actually meant is "rotator cuff tear". Nothing to do with ears, I'm afraid!

agree Charles Davis : Must be. Another example of the same typo (see top p. 2): http://tinyurl.com/q4txtuz

rotura o desgarro del manguito rotador

Alistair's definitely right about the typo. Has to be a typo for "rotator cuff tear."

I'm admittedly not familiar with the term, but on Google Books, "rotura del manguito rotador" pulls up 181 results, compared to 136 for "desgarro del manguito rotador" and 30 for "ruptura del manguito rotador." Rotura/desgarro/ruptura "del manguito rotatorio" don't pull up any results.
