English to French Tech/Engineering Electronics / Elect Eng programmation des microcontrôleurs

Bonjour à tous,

Je traduis un article technique sur les difficultés de prévoir la portabilité d'une application entre différents microcontrôleurs.

Je bloque sur le paragraphe suivant (je ne connais pas le jargon employé en français).

Even though MCU vendors may use the same ARM core, it is not in their interest to simplify portability to another vendor’s MCU. The challenge of making a design portable, therefore, passes to the design engineer. To simplify portability, the designer could implement an abstraction layer that creates a standard programming interface between the MCU and peripheral hardware and the application code. There are at least two ways to approach this:
- A ****shim layer**** or wrapper can be developed to translate between the MCU manufacturer’s peripheral library and the application code. Although this is probably the most time-efficient solution, it will add more code in the command and data paths.
- Defining a standard function and variable naming scheme and applying it to each peripheral library. Although this avoids additional code, it can be very time consuming, especially for complex peripherals.


Les termes "shim layer" et "wrapper" sont ceux qui me posent problème. Je crois savoir que les électroniciens/programmeurs utilisent volontiers "wrapper" en français, ou bine parlent d'*enveloppe*. Pour le premier terme, en revanche, je n'ai pas beaucoup d'idée. Je pense que les deux concepts sont liés... Faut-il absolument employer deux termes différents en français ?
