A problem that can be a media issue is Head strikes. A head strike occurs when the print head hits the media, depositing excess ink on the surface which generally appear as a linear pattern of spots or marks on the media. It can be the result of poor tensioning of the media on the machines media carriers, or may indicate defective media.

C'est donc quand la tête d'impression touche le papier, dépose trop d’encre et abîme le tirage...
Does anyone know the Canadian French equivalent for this term? Context: training about wide format digital printing substrates.
