French term

rapatriement

Non-PRO French to English Other Safety Trade fair evacuation
Hello,

I've considered repatriation and don't feel it fits here.

The text is actually a diagram, showing different stages in evacuation procedure for a trade fair.

Scenario 1 is evacuation followed by all-clear
Scenario 2 is evacuation followed by transfer to a nearby site with shelter and heating
Scenario 3 is evacuation followed by "rapatriement par taxi ou car"

Bearing in mind that in 90% of cases this will mean drving people back to their hotels, what might be a suitable translation of "rapatriement"?

Thanks for your help.

Votes to reclassify question as PRO/non-PRO:

PRO (2): Steffen Walter, Yolanda Broad

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

return transfer by car/taxi
Sandra Petch (asker) Dec 6, 2013:
I agree, but it's too long. I have a box with the words "rapatriement par taxi ou car" (XXX by taxi or coach).
Lorraine Dubuc Dec 6, 2013:
driving people back to their home or hotel (bring back home is what 'rapatrier' means)

2 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Thanks everyone. My preferred answer is "return transfer", suggested in the discussion box. I can't award points to that person as it isn't an "official" answer and Gayle's is closest. "
