''Always on'' was translated by someone else as ''toujours prêt'' and somehow I have a doubt about it. Wouldn't it be better to say ''toujours en fonction'' or any other suggestion ? Or maybe I'm wrong.

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).
Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.
When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.
* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

'tourner' is just one way they might mean it (= 'are running') -- but whichever verb you use, you might wish to consider 'en permanence' as an expanded and more powerful way of rendering 'always'.

but as the designer or installer or sys-admin of the network, you don't have the same perspective, you have to look at all the links in the chain. As someone said "you IT people are really a special case: you're not happy that it started working again if you don't know WHY it started working again" BTW this "networking software" strictly speaking is probably not a "networking software" but a software designed for some other tasks (an application running on some server) that just happens to accessible over a network at all time. But that wouldn't make much difference to the meaning of "always ON".
