Spanish term

puertas de planta

Spanish to English Other Mechanics / Mech Engineering
on an elevator.

This is from a witness statement by an elevator technician about an elevator accident:

"Confirmo que, en base a la referencia de la instalación, la empresa suministró parte de los componentes del ascensor, pero ni definió ni suministró las puertas del ascensor, de cabina y de planta. Desconocemos la configuración y tipo de puertas que se instalaron en este ascensor en su origen ..."

I understand here that the "de cabina y de planta" part refers to the doors (and not that there are elevator doors, "de cabina" doors, and "de planta" doors). Please correct me if I am wrong!

Thanks!!

Thank you, Charles and bigedsenior. I ended up going with hoistway doors for puertas de planta.
Charles Davis Jul 26, 2014:
@ Laura I can't claim to be an elevator expert, but I think you must be right: puertas de cabina y de planta must be the car doors and the hoistway doors.
Laura Kiernan (asker) Jul 26, 2014:
ETA: I think this might refer to the "hoistway door" but I would love it if someone more well-versed in elevator terminology could help me out here! Thanks.

elevator floor doors

The cabin has a set of doors and each floor has its own set.
With modern elevators you do not notice this because they both open simultaneously.
