"The responsibility for the market risk model development lies within Integrated Risk Management B.
The calculation of the market risk for a life company is based on the Market Consistent Embedded Value (MCEV) of the respective companies. The market risk is defined as the deviation of the MCEV from its mean in one year.
In order to calculate those fluctuations the replicating portfolio technique is used: this means that
the MCEVs are replicated using financial instruments like bonds, swaptions and equities. Hence,
the replicating portfolio under these scenarios behaves in the same way as the MCEV itself for
changed economic scenarios. The following diagram illustrated the calculation process."
