: "distances" ici semble plutôt exprimer "sujet proche-lointain" et non des focales, puisqu'il est question d'un objectif de 100mm et non d'un zoom/objectif à focale variable//A mon avis c'est sa dualité petit télé/objectif macro qui est mise en avant

: on its own, at a stretch, it could be that - but the way the whole ST is worded it means that this 100 mm lenses "fill the gap" in a range of lenses of varying focal distances that a pro photographer has to have.

A stretch? The ST is more about macro-/tele-photo than focal distances. I don't understand "distance" here as "focal distance" and the blurb goes beyond a mere add-on between a 50 and a 150.

I don't think it's really about a range of focal lengths — that doesn't quite seem to be what they are referring to here, and in any case, modern lenses already offer pretty good focal length coverage.
Nor, I think, is it anything to do specifically with focusing distance: almost all lenses go from ∞ (of course!) down to sometimes quite close distances.
What I think they are referring to here is bridging the gap (that does still exist!) between the minimum focusing distance in 'normal' and the maximum focusing distance in 'macro' — this can be quite irksome at times, where you want to get in just that bit closer in 'normal', and yet not quite close enough to be 'macro'.
