Spanish term
valor cuerda de los piñones
Spanish to English
Tech/Engineering
Mechanics / Mech Engineering
"Apuntar valor cuerda de los piñones y traza"
The context is receipt of goods for an assembly process. The piñones are sprockets/pinions for geared motors on a yaw in a wind turbine. The bit I don't get is "valor cuerda" (which I very much doubt is anything to do with string!). Any ideas? Thanks!

pinion thread value
I think this refers to the torque value of opinion threads...

Sorry, pinion (not "opinion)
And it's thread as in screw, not as in string :)

Note from asker:
Thanks for the response! I wasn't aware 'cuerda' was an alternative to 'rosca' for 'thread'. I used this and mentioned it in a translator's note to be double checked. |

pinion gear torque setting

This may be a bit of a stretch, but I think "cuerda' relates to 'dar cuerda' to wind up which the text means for torque.
Torque settings are an essential step in mechanical design and assembly and special wrenches are used for this purpose.

Note from asker:
Wouldn't torque setting also be part of the design, but not something that could be checked on receipt of goods (thread value could be checked with a thread gauge)? Maybe this answer is possible, but saw the other answer as slightly more possible. Thanks all the same! |
