Spanish term

200 D

Spanish to English Other Furniture / Household Appliances original de la casa
The reference is to an opque blind that is 200D. I was thinking that D could refer to denier? However, in my mind denier is associate with tights...

Thanks in advance

what sort of blind is it - could you perhaps post the Spanish phrase?

Could we have the Spanish context, please.
Aren't all blinds opaque?

Denier - unit of measure for the linear mass density of fibers

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Units_of_textile_measurement#D...

"In synthetic fabrics like 1680D ballistic nylon the D stands for Denier. Denier fabrics are made from filament fibers. Denier is the weight in grams of about 9000 meters of fiber. So 1680D ballistic nylon means 9000 meters of fiber weighs about 1680 Grams."

Usually the material is described with two D values ("200D x 200D", for instance, which is probably the case in your source text?). I'm no expert, though, and don't know if that describes the two threads that make up the fabric.

Other usage example:

Description of a Samsonite duffle bag:
"Material: Outside: 1680 denier x 1260 denier polyester, 280 denier x 280 denier polyester, 600 denier x 600 denier polyester, 100% polyurethane trim"
