Electrical properties
Dear colleagues,
I hope you can help me with the term "idle voltage", as I am not sure if I have the right meaning.
The context is a list of properties of an electrical device:
"The maximum (idle) voltage between XXX and XXX must not exceed 5 V.
There is a terminating resistor of 120 Ω between XXX and XXX."
Could the right translation for that be "voltaje/tensión en reposo"?
Many thanks in advance!

valor del voltage antes prender el láser
I am successfully running the head with my home-built switch mode power supply without problems. It runs pretty stable with less than 1-2% noise in the light output and has been so far tested up to 30A incl 3A magnet current. The magnet is simply put parallel to the tube at 160V (ie, between the center-tap of the filament transformer and the anode). For this it seems important that the idle voltage (before laser ignition) is set not too high in order not to stress the magnet coil (I use ca 220VDC - just high enough that the laser starts reliably). 8V needed to trigger the starter relay

However, depending on design, a laser pointer could be totally destroyed by even modest overvoltage (say 5 V instead of 3 V from 2 AAA batteries) or reverse polarity. Some of these don't have anything more than a resistor for current limiting. So the laser diode could very well have been damaged or turned into a DELD (Dark Emitting Laser Diode) or expensive LED. All you may end up with is a nice (or not so nice) case.
Pinouts for the interface cable are as follows: (1) No Connection, (2) Laser On, 25 mA +5V, (3) Gnd, (4) -12 VDC, (5), Laser OK +5 VDC (output), (6) +5 VDC (Laser Power Supply), (7) Gnd, (8) Modulation Input, (9) No Connection, (10) Laser Power Adjust.

The maximum (idle) voltage between A+/A- and B+/B- must not exceed 5 V.
There is a terminating resistor of 120 Ω between A+/A- and B+/B-.
For cable lengths over 2 meters, a twisted pair electrical connection should be used.
The wiring colors are based on a standard 5-pin connector lead, as described below."
