I'm translating a psychological assessment and I've come across the rather strange phrase "anxiété au regard de la nouveauté". Here it is in context:
"L’histoire personnelle de monsieur Smith a été révisée. On retrouve une contribution de cette histoire dans les traits de personnalité que monsieur Smith présente, ainsi que dans les origines de ses différentes anxiétés, que ce soit l’anxiété de performance, de séparation ou encore de son anxiété au regard de la nouveauté."
Does it mean something like "anxiety about change"?

anxiety when faced with a new situation
Anxiety is a key emotion in defining many psychological conditions. I think you need to stick pretty closely to the terms chosen in the original. French psychology has a quite different history from an academic and a clinical point of view. (I've just completed a bachelor's degree in psychology and am currently working towards a master's degree in psychology in France, with two majors this year : clincal psychopathology and neuropsychology).

I know it seems like I'm nit-picking but "change" and a "new situation" are not quite synonymous. An individual may be faced with change but it could be to a situation he is already familiar with. To that extent, the situation would not be new. That's the sort of reason which justifies sticking quite close to the original here. It is quite a specific description.
