Bonjour,

a "warehouse club" IS NOT a warehouse, it's a retail store [NOT LINKED TO ANY PARTICULAR FACTORY] the size of a warehouse, and it's meant for buyers buying large quantities; one of the methods to eliminate those buying usual small retail quantities is to open the stores only to members and to locate them out of the way, in industrial or trading estates.
it's a club [open only to members]= un club
and the main point is that it's meant for buyers interest in large quantities = achats en gros

there are no reasons to stick to a literal translation done hastily by some journalist // they are well know for taking their time to check facts, for knowing in-depth what they write about and for thinking twice before writing ... aren't they?

Warehouse club
A warehouse club is a retail store, usually selling a wide variety of merchandise, in which customers may buy large, wholesale quantities of the store's products, which makes these clubs attractive to both bargain hunters and small business owners. The clubs are able to keep prices low due to the no-frills format of the stores. In addition, customers may be required to pay annual membership fees in order to shop.
The concept is similar to the consumers' cooperative supermarkets found in Europe, though using bigger stores and not co-operatively owned. The use of members' prices without co-operative ownership is also sometimes used in bars and casinos.

Note from asker:
Yes, the issue here is that we don't really have this kind of store in France, so the translation cannot be really accurate |

Les Monoprix en effet.
Why not? That is not an obstacle to translate accurately "King" or "Queen"? or polar cap or sandy desert ...
As long as it's a reasonably accurate description, doesn't matter if these "Warehouse club" exist or not in France; what is surely wrong is to try to find some "equivalent" that does exist in France but reflects a totally different concept, or just take "warehouse" at face value ...
