i'm just lost in this sentence.. please, help!!
as discussed earlier, for consolidated financial reporting purposes, impairment loss at the subsidiary leevl would not automatically be 'pushed up' but testing for impairment at the level of the parent's reporting unit that contains that subsidiary would be called for due to the indicator of possible impairment.
so
with some purposes the loss at lower level would not be pushed up but...

Here is an attempt

as discussed earlier, for consolidated financial reporting purposes, impairment loss at the subsidiary level will not automatically cause impairment loss to be reported in the parent level; instead, the parent level will be tested to see if it also suffers from impairment loss. This testing is required [called for] because [due to] the impairment in the subsidiary level is an indicator of possible impairment in its parent level.
