The resistance characters of the E. coli from the neomycin group were carried more often on transmissible R plasmids than in the other groups.
These results show that nifuroxazide, an antimicrobial agent whose bacterial resistance is not coded by transmissible plasmids, has a moderate effect on the percentage of resistant bacteria in the intestine.
