Dicho popular que se usa para indicar, enfáticamente, que las cosas no pueden estar más claras, que no pueden ser mejor explicadas o que no pueden ser más evidentes. La expresión considera el valor tradicional del agua para aclarar cualquier otra sustancia o bien para limpiarla. Por supuesto que el agua siempre actuó como clarificante, lo que no significa que en toda ocasión se haya utilizado para mejorar la calidad de todos los productos que ayudó a clarificar. Como ejemplo contundente tenemos el caso del vino, habitualmente rebajado (o directamente adulterado) gracias al agregado del agua.
