French term
dans la rea
French to English
Medical
Medical (general)
On a patient's list of discharge medications:
Ordonnance de sortie:
MAG INJECTABLE IV 0.8% 10 ML Solution injectable (MAGNESIUM PIDOLATE): 3 ampoules toutes les 24 heures pendant 28 jours - condition d'administration: dans la rea
POTASSIUM CHLORURE INJ 10% 10 ML Solution à diluer pour perfusion: 3 grammes toutes les 24 heures pendant 28 jours - condition d'administration: dans la rea
Anyone know what "dans la rea" could be referring to? The only term I know that is abbreviated in this way [with the acute accent though] is "réanimation" but I don't see how that fits...
Thank you in advance for any help.

French term (edited):
dans la réa
to infusion fluids
Here « dans la réa » means the prescribed drugs should be “added to infusion fluids” (i.e. intravenous administration).

In French, most of the time indeed, “reanimation” means ICU (Intensive Care Unit). Here, we talk about a prescription, and “reanimation” designates the fluids given intravenously to the patient on a daily basis. In this particular case, 3 ampoules of MAG INJECTABLE and 3 ampoules of POTASSIUM CHLORURE should be administrated to the patient daily. More precisely “dans la réa” means that the drugs should be first diluted to the fluid continuously administrated over 24h, instead of being directly injected. This is found in your text in “Solution à diluer pour perfusion”

Drmanu49, a nurse can visit patients at home and provide intravenous drug administration! Most likely here, the patient is transfered to another hospital and the prescription is for the other medical team.

Although, it would make sense if, as Dr Manu said, the patient is being transferred to another hospital.
Not sure I'd want to try this at home!
