Übrigens ist auch der Begriff in der Quellsprache "split phase" zweifelhaft, weil er sich auf den Anlauf von Motoren mit Hilfsphase bezieht, deren Phase durch Anlaufkondensatoren verschoben werden. Das hat mit zweiphasigen Stromsystemen nichts zu tun.

Nach meiner Kenntnis werden "demi-phasé" und "biphasé" im französischen gleichwertig nebeneinander verwendet, obwohl sie wörtlich rückübersetzt, unterschiedliche Dinge bezeichnen (halbphasig und zweiphasig).
Anmerkung: Während meiner Zeit als Approbationsingenieur für USA hatte ich mich auch mit den dortigen Stromnetzen auseinanderzusetzen, unter anderem dem dort vorhandenen Dreileiter-Zweiphasennetzen (meist 2 * 115 V), deren Außenleiter um 180° phasenverschoben sind und der Neutralleiter als Mittenanzapfung des speisenden Trafos herausgeführt wird.
Dadurch können sowohl Geräte mit 230 V, als auch 115 V gespeist werden. Es ist kommt sogar vor, dass zwei 115-V-Geräte in Reihe geschaltet werden, was nicht ganz ungefährlich ist, weil das nur dann funktioniert, wenn beide Geräte den gleichen Widerstand aufweisen.
Übrigens, Fragen sollten erst nach Ablauf von mindestens 24 Stunden geschlossen werden, damit alle Kollegen auf der ganzen Erde Gelegenheit haben, eine möglichst gute Antwort zu geben.
Le split phase est comparable au courant biphasé (ne pas confondre avec le courant diphasé qui est en quadrature, donc déphasé de 90° au lieu de 180°).
