Chemicals – compatibility

Not all chemicals are compatible. Compatibility trials should be
completed between the various chemicals that can come into contact
(under representative conditions, including pressure, temperature and
duration of exposure), including:
• completion brine and hydraulic control fluid, especially if it is intended
to use hydraulic fluid for pressure testing, e.g. of running tools
• different types of controls fluids (prior to switching over from one
fluid to another)
• hydraulic control fluid and seawater (salt can precipitate at points
where control fluid is leaking, e.g. past a poppet valve on a hydraulic
coupler in the case where a multiple quick connect stab plate *(MQC
plate)* cover is not replaced).
