At the end of an appointment document, we have:
X terrà Y ed i suoi dipendenti e rappresentanti manlevati ed indenni da ogni responsabilità derivante dai doveri assunti sopra.
I have translated this as:
X shall indemnify and hold Y and its employees and representatives harmless from any liability arising from the obligations assumed above.
I am wondering if "terrà ... manlevati ed indenni" should be translated as "shall hold Y ... harmless from any liability..." or whether "indenni" has come to mean provide indemnification. I have checked the Kudoz glossaries and term search results and some include the idea of indemnification. However, having checked bilingual and unilingual reference works that I trust, I note that "indenne" means only undamaged, unharmed and so on.
