Ich bedanke mich bei Euch allen für die hilfreiche Diskussion. Ich übersetze auch schon seit Jahren fast ausschließlich Patente, aber so manchmal komme ich nicht weiter, vor allem, wenn es nicht von englischen native speakers konzipiert wurde. Ich habe mich hier für die Übersetzung Premium Shop entschieden und hoffe, der Kunde ist damit zufrieden.

Ha ha, same thought over here. I just would like to remind everyone that we're dealing with a language written in symbols, not letters. While you may be able to guess a word based on context, it becomes much harder if it's not a European document. A good example:

Dass „advance“ hier in die Richtung „im Voraus“ geht, wird aber im Kontext auf jeden Fall klar. Siehe auch die von Ricki zitierte Stelle aus dem Ausgangstext „rate information is set in advance“, die da ziemlich eindeutig ist.

Allerdings werde ich aus dem weiteren Kontext nach schnellem Überfliegen auch nicht schlau und verkrieche mich daher lieber wieder in mein Loch. ;-)

That quickly turns into a game of "Stille Post." Not convinced, sorry. I used to work in the patent department of a large software corporation.

And just take a look at the patent in question:

Excerpt:
"As is described in detail later, the pattern called the new advance shop is introduced in order to realize more satisfactory affiliate fee payment than the normal shop and the old advance shop for both of a shop which is a payer of an affiliate fee and an advertisement publisher which is a payee of the affiliate fee."

Yes, they may have used "advance" here as a noun modifier (whether that's appropriate or not), but look at the abstract:
"An affiliate management device according to one embodiment includes an access monitoring unit that, in accordance with a user's click on an affiliate link, stores click information associating a publisher of the affiliate link, a linked shop from the affiliate link and the user into a specified storage unit,"

"advance" may be a mistranslation of "linked." If Ina has the option to ask our Japanese colleagues, why not do it?

@ Björn Man muss bei Patentübersetzungen schonmal etwas kreativ sein. Ich würde hier "advance rate" (wenn unser Annahmen stimmen) zum Beispiel etwa so übersetzen: Rate für den erweiterten Shop (nach Abstimmung mit dem Kunden oder mit Kommentar für den Kunden) Noch besser wäre Premium Shop-Rate (wenn der Kunde mit "Premium" einverstanden ist)

I don't think that either. However, Thomas has a point because "advance rate" needs to be translated as well. Someone just combined "advance" and "shop" as we would do in German in one word - whether or not that works.

The inventors are Japanese. Is there no way you could ask about PCT/JP2012/064820 in the Japanese forum on ProZ? Translations of translations are never a good idea.

Ich dachte auch erst, dass die Rate vielleicht im Voraus festgelegt oder gar bezahlt wird, zumal das Wort "advance" auch vorkommt in dem Satz "The rate of each shop is determined by a contract between an administrator of the EC system 1 and each shop, and rate information is set in advance based on the contract", aber nach mehrmaligem Lesen des Textes habe ich kapituliert und mich nur noch ganz leer im Kopf gefühlt.

Ist die Muttersprache des Authors Englisch? Und geht es um einen Shop mit erweiteren Möglichkeiten oder einen Shop bei dem Vorausbestätigungen getätigt werden können?

advance vs. advanced Hier geht es um „advance“, nicht um „advanced“. Das wird zwar auch im Englischen häufig durcheinandergeworfen, was aber hier vermutlich nicht der Fall ist. Die Shops werden im weiteren Kontext ja auch über die dafür berechneten „rates“ definiert: „each shop is associated with three types of rates: a normal rate, a new advance rate and an old advance rate“. Der „normal shop“ ist also jener mit der „normal rate“, der „old advance shop“ jener mit der „old advance rate“ usw.
