I believe it is never wrong to look for a second opinion. "Cathode" was the literal translation, but I noticed the word "gun" when I googled for terminology, and decided to check.

With all due respects andrewtishin, it would have taken you 1 minute to find, e.g., on Goggle, this obviously already spelled out meaning/translation. You're either a lazy researcher, don't know the subject matter, or certainly not a professional translator; otherwise with all the tools at hand, you wouldn't have to waste other translators' time, who are far too often wrong and gather goody-points as worthless as a doorknob without a door but ego booster gaining 4 points. After 66 years as a R>E translator of 70 different sci/tech journals, where has the profession, the human-based profession, the researchers gone? To hell....
