@Wilsonn The term you are translating seems to be very specific. I've had a look at vintage/retro salons but I'm non the wiser. The only people who might know could be ladies who went to salons a few decades ago.

?? The document is from 1966. Probably it was a term used in the Dominican Republic back then.

??? The client, a Dominican, does not know. Two Dominican barbers in the U.S. don't know either, so this is probably a mistake. It makes sense that it might be a trolley, but probably I will end up writing something like: violas (sic).

I agree with Neil that it must have a meaning somewhere, but it's not well known. Also hard to find references as all searches lead to musical instruments or assault. I came up with trolley as all hair salons have them, 4 could be a reasonable number, and other things can be ruled out after seeing list. Also viola kept popping up on descriptions of "carro estantes".

I went ... to a beauty salon en my pueblo and asked about it. They had never heard of a "viola" and had no idea what it might be. They said it may be a regional usage.
