Italian term

collaborazione a partita IVA

Italian to English Medical Business/Commerce (general) on a resume
It is part of the following resume item:

"Collaborazione a partita IVA come formatore professionale".

Sorry for asking in a reverse pair, but I am just doing a completely free favour to an old friend, who has just asked me to urgently translate her daughter's resume. Very difficult to explain translation rules to an old friend who does not belong to our industry. I will obviously contact a mother tongue-proofreader as soon as I have finished.

Thank you all in advance.

Re: to VAT or not to VAT:

While on a detailed contract or in a legal context it is probably of interest to get into the VAT question, on a CV in English with a possible/likely NON-Italian audience I don't think it's important at all.

I think it should simply be taken as it is probably intended, i.e., another way of quickly indicating that the person was not actually employed by the company but rather worked as a self-employed contractor for the company.

IMHO the potential future employer reading the resume doesn't care about the fiscal regime chosen by the worker (self-employed with VAT or self-employed without VAT), but rather the person's relationship with the company he/she worked with/for.

worked as a free-lance VAT registation(-number) holder

In a less repressive tax system one may work free-lance without acquiring from the tax authorities one's personal VAT registration number.
In Italy it is an expensive and lengthy process the very fact of undertaking whereof indicates a serious professional with enough clients/jobs to be worth one's while of going through the registration rigmarole (come, ne sono certo lo sai anche tu). Hence it is important to underline that your friend's daughter actually holds her own VAT registration number. In Italy, it's an important part of the professional's stigmata :))). Must be explicitly mentioned.
